Who are we?
We are a leading set of barristers based in the heart of Birmingham. We provide advice and advocacy in a wide range of areas, although crime is our core area of practice.
As a specialist set, we have a large and experienced criminal team. We act in matters dealt with in the magistrates’ courts to the most serious, complex and high-profile cases.
Whilst we cover a wide range of work, we recognize that, from the perspective of the client, your case is the most important one. We consequently see nothing as routine or minor.

Emily Andrew successfully secures sentence reduction in the Court of Appeal Criminal Division
The defendant had previously been sentenced to 46 weeks’ immediate custody at Warwick Crown Court for 4 offences of shop theft. Emily Andrew, instructed by Hine Solicitors, was granted leave to appeal by the Single Judge, and appeared before Mr Justice Goose, Lord Justice Foxton, and Her Honour Judge

Robert Tolhurst, instructed by Luke Cleghorn of David Coyle Solicitors, Nuneaton, defended for a client acquitted by a jury on 28th July 2026 following a trial at Warwick Crown Court. The indictment alleged eight offences: two counts of Rape, Sexual Assault and five counts of Sexual Activity with a Child.
