Undertakes the full spectrum of criminal work at Crown Court and appellate level, instructed by both prosecution and defence : homicide and death by dangerous driving, serious violence and large-scale public disorder, armed robbery and other firearm offences, rape and other sexual offences, importation and supply of drugs, dishonesty of all kinds.
Regularly instructed in cases with complex factual background and / or many defendants. Grade 4 CPS prosecutor. Conversant with confiscation proceedings under POCA and other statutory regimes.
Has significant experience of Trading Standards matters, and experience of other regulatory crime.
Recent and notable cases have included :
- junior for the Crown in the case of 10 defendants charged with riot and attempted murder
- leading junior for the Crown in the case of 60 defendants dealt with in 7 separate trials for offences of large-scale public disorder following a football match
- instructed to represent a number of defendants charged (in separate proceedings) with importation and supply of Class A drugs on a large scale
- instructed to represent a defendant charged with manslaughter by injection of Class A drug
- R -v- Simon [1992] Crim LR 444 (re : addition of Counts to Indictment under S. 40 Criminal Justice Act 1988
- R –v- Young, R –v- Field [2002] EWCA Crim 2913 (re : orders disqualifying adults convicted of sexual offences from working with children)
