Career background

Prior to call to the Bar, employed by HM Courts Service as a court clerk in Birmingham and Wolverhampton Crown Courts.  After call, undertook pupillage at Equity Chambers and was a tenant there for several years before joining Citadel in November 2009.   
   

Practice details

Crime

Instructed to appear in a wide variety of Crown Court matters, on behalf of prosecution and defence.   Recent instructions have included representing a defendant charged with supplying Class A drugs, and prosecuting in a firearms matter.

Youth Court experience has included dealing with cases of sexual assault where young complainants gave evidence via TV link. Has dealt with applications for ASBO's, Financial Reporting Orders, Serious Crime Prevention Orders, and Travel Restriction Orders.

Immigration

Instructed in all areas, including prosecutions for the Immigration Service (which involve advising from an early stage, on the appropriate charge, evidence, and Jury bundles). Regularly instructed in 'holidaymaker' appeals, visa applications and asylum matters.

Family

Experience includes financial dispute proceedings, ancillary relief, and public and private law children work.  Recent instructions have included a sensitive 3 day contested County Court hearing.

Common Law 

Has experience of dealing with a variety of civil matters, including small claims and fast track cases, personal injury matters, and mortgage repossession applications.
