Career background

Prior to call to the Bar, had a successful career in the mobile telecommunications industry.  Involved in the deployment of 2G and 3G networks internationally and provided technical, logistical and project management solutions to the mobile industry within the UK. 

 

Practice details

Crime

Has been instructed to appear on behalf of both defence and prosecution in a range of criminal matters, including : 

  • represented a man charged with the harassment of a friend of his estranged wife  (acquitted)
  • represented two youths charged with arson  (acquitted)
  • prosecuted a defendant charged with benefit fraud
  • represented a defendant charged with driving whilst unfit through drugs  (acquitted :  the Crown's own expert report was used to support an argument that the residual levels of the drug which the defendant had consumed were insufficient to impair his driving)
  • prosecuted a defendant charged with S47 assault, and secured conviction notwithstanding that the 'victim' of the assault became a hostile witness

Common Law

Has dealt with applications to strike out, and other contested applications in the County Court.

Telecommunications

Has significant expertise within a number of technical areas and is familiar with many others, therefore would be happy to receive instructions in which detailed industry knowledge is advantageous.

Areas of technical and logistical knowledge include:

  • Site Acquisition, including the consideration of leases and the application of the Electronic Communications Code
  • Rollout of MSC, BSC, BTS and Node B sites
  • Rollout of  microwave networks, including IP networks, to increase bandwidth available for high speed LTE mobile networks
  • Circuit and Traffic Migration
  • Development of Procurement Strategies
  • Cell Site Analysis

Continuing Professional Development

Has participated in witness familiarisation courses conducted to train HSE Inspectors.
