Laura Culley successful in West Midlands Police largest ever forfeiture case
Wednesday 15th August 2012
Laura Culley has secured the forfeiture of £1,333,250 on behalf of West Midlands Police, which was seized with a quantity of stolen goods from an address in Bridgnorth in November 2010.
The police applied for forfeiture on the basis that there was evidence that the money was the proceeds of haulage theft. The owner of the house responded arguing that the money was his from legitimate trading. After a two day hearing which involved analysis of the business, accounts and tax affairs of the Respondent, District Judge Davison ruled that the money was the proceeds of crime and ordered forfeiture of it.
The money will go into public funds.
